"Watch out!" Called a squirrel, as a bandit, wielding a knife, lunged at a tall fox, wielding a spear. The fox, turning around, twirled the spear, and knocked the knife out of the bandit's hand. The fox then proceeded to slam the bandit with the end of the spear's hilt. The bandit spat up some blood as he was knocked back several yards, landing in a bush.
The fox smiled, and turned to face the squirrel before saying "You're all set. We have arrived at our destination. Now, may I please receive my pay?" The fox asked, putting the spear away.
The squirrel nodded. "Of course," he said, taking out the fox's pay. He dropped it in the fox's outstretched hand. "Thanks for being my bodyguard on the way here. You did an incredible job. I hope to meet you again someday!" The squirrel said, smiling before walking off towards the town.
The fox smiled and put the money away in the bag on his shoulder. The bandits had ambushed them right before they had entered the town. If it hadn't been for the fox, the squirrel would have died. It was a good thing the squirrel had hired him.
His name, you ask? He was Hunter Kirizaki, Bodyguard, Hired Sword, and Flute Player. He was a traveler, and had gone almost everywhere, and had been in every kingdom.

King Garewon of Arthon Castle was a trusting king. He knew if he left his castle his creatues would not betray him and try to take over his castle.
Because of this, King Garewon and a chosen group of soldiers--twenty in all--went out to patrol Bentwin. A messenger, a chipmunk like himself, had informed the king that he had seen a gray fox out in Bentwin. There had not been any known vermin in or near Bentwin for quite a while.
King Garewon thought all foxes were evil so he went oput to take a look.
Garewon and his group were creeping along between a grove of elm trees when they heard something from up ahead.
King Garewon shaded his eyes from the sun as he peered around, trying to figure out which direction the noise had come from.
Finally the chipmunk king saw something gray up ahead, between two small elms. Garewon motioned for his soldiers to go forward to the fox. They crept up behind the fox and then King Garewon said in an imperious voice, after cautiously drawing his sword, "Who are you, fox, and what is your business here?"

Hunter was surprised, and had been caught off guard, which was saying a lot, considering a fox's sense of smell. Turning around, Hunter smiled. "You scared me, sir. I am Hunter Kirizaki, Sword-for-hire and flute player. I just finished performing an escort of a travelling merchant squirrel. Who might you be?" He asked. He hadn't done business with King Garewon before, so he didn't know who he was speaking to. But, luckily for Hunter, he always spoke kindly to strangers, and thusly always made a good first impression.
Hunter, hearing a rustling in bushes nearby, turned around and saw that the bandit was standing up. "I'm sorry I had to harm you like that, I was just doing my job. I would advise that you and your friends be on your way, as I would rather not have to hurt you." He said. The bandit stood up and growled, until he noticed the soldiers behind Hunter. Scared, the bandit snatched his things in a split second and ran off.

King Garewon smiled, relieved. The fox didn't seem like he was evil. The chipmunk king offered the fox his paw. "Pleased to meet you. Hunter. I am King Garewon of Arthon Castle and these creatures are some of my trusted soldiers," Garewon motioned to the soldiers behind him, then asked, "Where are you bound, Hunter?"

Hunter took the hand and shook it softly. smiling back. "Glad to met you. It's a pleasure to meet a king." He said, then heard the question. "I actually have no destination. I'm a traveler. I go everywhere. I have no home." He said, then pointed to the spear upon his back. "I use this to pay for all of my food, and to pay for rooms at inns, among other things. Though I don't like to admit it, I'd be dead by now if there weren't any bandits or thieves around anymore. I can play flute, but I don't get nearly as much money from that."

King Garewon shook his head. "Aye, there may be bandits, but not many around here. Well, do you want a home? You can live in Arthon Castle. We have many creatures living there already but there's room for you, too, and more. What do you say?"

"In truth I must decline. I apologize, but I actually enjoy traveling about. It's enjoyable when you get to meet new people, see new places, and have new experiences. I believe you would enjoy it, too, if you were not king and could do such things. But, if you would like, I'll visit the castle. It would be a great place to find more work. I also offer my services to royalty such as yourself, so if you ever need somebody to take care of a problem for you, I'll do it, but it will cost you." Hunter said, and at the very end covered his mouth. "Pardon me, I talk too much."

(Do you mind if I join in now?)
Sinatra Coldclaw watched the exchange of both beasts from in a clump of trees. Completely hidden, she toyed with an arrow from her quiver as she listened.
I am Hunter Kirizaki, Sword-for-hire and flute player. I just finished performing an escort of a travelling merchant squirrel. Who might you be?
That could come in useful for a time to come...perhaps she could use her silver tongue to get him to work for her.
Pleased to meet you. Hunter. I am King Garewon of Arthon Castle and these creatures are some of my trusted soldiers.
So that was King Garewon. But even as the opossum had those thoughts in her head, her mind was working on a plan to kill the king and every soldier.
Aye, there may be bandits, but not many around here. Well, do you want a home? You can live in Arthon Castle. We have many creatures living there already but there's room for you, too, and more. What do you say?
Sinatra nearly laughed out loud. Behave like a goodbeast, get into the castle, kill all the creatures and rule it. She sat up silently and crept out of the bushes, playing the ruse she had set up.
Good day to you sirs, I am Sinatra Coldclaw.

King Garewon was about to reply to Hunter when he heard a voice. The chipmunk king swiftly turned around. He readied his sword after he saw that the speaker was an opossum. Garewon spoke in a no-nonsense voice. "Who are you, opossum?"

Who are you, opossum?
Sinatra bowed to the chipmunk, laughing inwardly. She smiled, revealing two long white fangs, but the king could not see this as the opossum was facing the ground.
Sinatra Coldclaw, sir. Pleased to meet you.
Even though Sinatra was the absolute opposite of pleased, she was determined to rule the castle. The battle-axe her tail was curled around laid on the ground, along with her long, pink tail. She turned to Hunter.
Pleased to meet you as well, sir.

King Garewon cautiously watched Sinatra Coldclaw as he gripped his sword hilt with both paws. "Sinatra Coldclaw, eh? Well, Sinatra, where are you from and why are you here?"
King Garewon suddenly said, "Sinatra, why do you carry that axe?" The chipmunk king smiled. "That's right, I know, opossum, you're vermin! Now, are you up for a one versus one fight?"
King Garewon got into one of his fighting positions as he waited for a reply from the opssum.

Sinatra Coldclaw, eh? Well, Sinatra, where are you from and why are you here?
I'm from the lands of ice. As to why I am here, that is a fact that I'd rather keep to myself.
Sinatra, why do you carry that axe?
Sinatra said nothing as the chipmunk started talking again, which was all well and good, because the next thing she knew...
That's right, I know, opossum, you're vermin! Now, are you up for a one versus one fight?
Sinatra was seething inwardly. Seeing that the disguise had failed, she lifted her tail up, though she always spoke in the way she had just done.
So, you figured it out. Top marks, chipmunk. I'd be only too glad to have a battle with you.
Sinatra laid her tail at her side, fingering the battle-axe.
You may go first.

King Garewon laughed, relieved he was right that the opossum was a vermin and now the chipmunk king was ready to fight.
King Garewon circled Sinatra, trying to find an opening in which to wound or kill the opossum. Garewon suddenly stopped circling Sinatar and jabbed out with his sword, at the opossum's chest, then the king ducked and lashed at her legs, following with an uppercut to Sinatra's stomach.

Tymaratletis Sharpeyes
"Remember that your eyes and ears are your sword and arrows. Diving out into battle will do nothing good for you. Stay on the outside and look in, but never dive into it lest you wish to be unmasked and betray our identities...."
Tyme ruffled her feathers her grey eyes staring with the odd coldness she used when she was observing a scene. She hadn't thought following the king would amount to much today. But apparently she'd witness a battle. Tyme was rather amused. She'd taken off the thyme leaves, because they didn't grow in this part of the forest. It would have given her away. But the scent still lingered around her. And her black and white feathers didn't exactly help her to blend in with the green surroundings. She was standing a few yards away perched on a high up branch where she was covered with leaves.
Tyme frowned as she stared at the opossum. Was he on the bad side? Or was he simply one of those who went around trying to steal kingdoms from other folk in an unorganized way. She had never seen him. Or mayhap she had? She hadn't spent many seasons next to the sea so she couldn't very much tell. Tyme decided that she would not dive out today. It would mean making guesses and guesses were something a good spy never made. If the opossum was on the Bad side she would be forced to help him. However tha twould also terminate her stay as a spy at Arthon Castle. No, she would stay in this tree, observe, and report. And if the king was injured badly but not killed she would dive down and play the part of hero. She'd flutter her wings and chitter about. But otherwise if the battle didn't amount to much she'd simply glide through the forest back home and make up another excuse for her absence.

Sinatra stayed in her position calmly as the chipmunk king began to circle her. Laughing quietly, she let rage build up inside her as the king stabbed with his blade. Sinatra jumped backward and avoided the bladestrokes. Then King Garewon punched at her stomach swiftly. Acting quickly, she grabbed an arrow and aimed it at King Garewon's incoming paw, not on her bow, but in her claws.
She jumped backwards, eyes smiling, hiding the anger in them and just as suddenly Sinatra lay back against a tree trunk and sneered at King Garewon, revealing rows of sharpened teeth.
Go on, chipmunk. Try again.
